Happy Father's Day!

This weekend is Father’s day, which means it’s time for Dad to hang up his apron and for someone else to fire up the grill.  While you may not have Dad’s mad grilling skills, this recipe for a double burger will definitely make him proud.

Double Burger

Grilled Double Burger
¼ pound hamburger patties, 12
Hamburger buns, 6
Cheddar cheese, 12 slices
Caramelized onions (recipe below) 
Secret Sauce, 2 cups (recipe below)
Salt and pepper, to taste

Prepare a charcoal grill. Form the ground beef into ¼ pound patties.

Season the hamburger patties with salt and pepper. Cook the hamburgers to your liking. Melt the Cheddar cheese on the patties. Toast the buns on the grill. Place a patty on the bottom bun, top with caramelized onions and secret sauce. Repeat with another patty to make a double burger.

Caramelized Onions:
Spanish onions, 2 medium
Drawn butter, ¼ cup
Salt and pepper, to taste

Peel and slice the onions about ½ inch thick. Cook over low heat with the drawn butter until browned. About 20 minutes.

Secret Sauce:
Mayonnaise, ½ cup
Ketchup, ½ cup
Mustard, ½ cup
Sweet pickle relish, ½ cup
Red wine vinegar, 1 tablespoon
Salt, to taste

Combine all ingredients together and mix thorougly. Season to taste.
