Jake's: Local Beer, Local Cheer


This week, Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap, brought in eight of the best brewers in town for their Local Beer, Local Cheer beer tasting!

Benefiting the Fallen Firefighters Widows and Orphans fund, the event featured brews from a handful of local craft breweries, including Metropolitan, Wild-Onion, Local Option, Finches, 5 Rabbit, Flossmore, Half Acre and Two Brothers brewers.

 Each brewer will also create a special brew exclusive to Jake’s that will be available for a limited time only. The perfect refreshment to wash down those XXX Wings!

Ciao a Tutti! Bar Toma is OPEN


With Chef Tony Mantuano at the helm, you can't possibly go wrong. This week, our latest restaurant opened to wild reviews and ravenous diners. There is something for everyone at this Mag Mile hot spot- a cozy corner for date night, a spot at the bar for a cocktail and snack or space for 10 of your closest friends to gather over pizza and Italian craft beer.

We would tell you about all of the fresh cheese at the mozzarella bar, or try to describe the savory aroma of wood fired pizza, but a picture is truly worth a thousand words. Feast your eyes on Bar Toma!

Look Out! The Sloppy Joelopy is on the Road


The rumors on Twitter are all true! Our Sloppy Joelopy has hit the road, bringing our moveable feast to folks around the country.  The menu rotates, but includes sensational sammies, like The Joelopy, a classic sloppy joe made with ground beef, onions, pickle relish and delicious seasoning, The Pork Lizzie BBQ pulled pork with crunchy, tangy cabbage salad and the Cincinnati Traffic Jam: Ground beef cooked Cincinnati chili-style with shredded cheddar and onions. BooYah!

Battle of the Bhut 2011: Hot Time in the Old Town


Jake Melnick's Corner Tap in Chicago is turning up the heat in this November by teaming up with Major League Eating for their Third Annual Battle of the Bhut XXX Wing Eating contest happening on Sunday, November 6, 2011! Those daring enough to participate will have to take down Jake's signature XXX Hot Wings, which are made with two of the hottest peppers in the world, the Red Savina Habanero and the Bhut Jolokia, which currently holds the title of hottest chile pepper in the Guinness Book of World Records!

Jake’s will kick off this hotter than hot Sunday funday at 1 p.m. with a celebrity pre-contest featuring Chicago firefighters, Jake’s Bhut Camp winners and Chicago’s most recognized!  For every wing eaten during the first contest, Jake’s will donate $5 per wing to the Widows and Orphans fund, which benefits the families of firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Firefighters will also be collecting donations for the Widows and Orphans fund throughout the event.

Chicago’s top two Major League Eaters, Pat “Deep Dish” Bertoletti and Gravy Brown, will headline the event in an effort to bring the Bhut title back to Chicago. Seattle’s Erik “the Red” Denmark won last year’s Battle of the Bhut after eating 35 Bhut XXX Wings in 5 minutes for the title. Bertoletti and Brown finished second and third, respectively, in 2010.

What do Pack fans crave? Darren Rovell wants you to make the call!


CNBC's Darren Rovell loves a good hot dog and he's launched a Twitter contest to name the best new hot dog topping for fans at Lambeau Field. Green Bay is home to the reigning Super Bowl champs and some seriously tasty food from cheese curds to sizzling hot brats. The winning dog topper will be featured when the Packers faceoff against the Minnesota Vikings on November 14. Learn more here.
