Follow Along: A Night at The Emmys

Guests at the 76th Emmy Awards

On September 15, the Levy team at the Peacock Theater and the Los Angeles Convention Center hosted the 76th Emmy Awards. This is the 16th time Levy has taken part in the iconic night. While it took months of preparation, here’s a glimpse into what Emmys day looks like through the eyes of a Levy team member.

1:45 p.m. The LACC team adds finishing touches to their plan, preparing for the after party to come just about 4 hours later. The great room where the event will be held is getting its finishing touches: the dance floor is buffed, the star lights are on and the tables are set.

2:00 p.m. The first guests arrive at the red carpet. Welcomed by the Peacock Theater team, they make their way along the carpet — writers, producers, camera operators and assistants hidden in the crowd.

3:00 p.m. The Peacock Theater team prepares for the crowds as the first few audience members trickle into the building, choosing their concessions and drinks for the night ahead.

3:30 p.m. The biggest names in television begin arriving at the red carpet. Sheryl Lee Ralph (nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series), Steve Martin (nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series), Idris Elba (nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series), Jeremy Allen White (winner of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series) and Quinta Brunson (nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series) are just some of the stars entering the building.

4:00 p.m. Hey, we know him!

4:30 p.m. Stars and guests begin making their way into Peacock Theater for the show. The nominees’ nerves are high, but so is the energy.

5:00 p.m. The 76th Emmy Awards begin, hosted by Eugene and Dan Levy (no relation). Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez are the first presenters, and they awarded Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series to Ebon Moss-Bachrach for his role in The Bear.

6:00 p.m. Meanwhile, the crew at the LACC starts its pre-shift meeting to prepare for the official afterparty. The Levy team enjoys a meal together before what will be a busy night. According to the LACC group, their motto throughout the entire process is “One Team, One Dream.”

7:00 p.m. After the pre-shift meeting, all team members make sure everything is in order throughout the party hall and get in position for the stars to arrive.

7:12 p.m. The first show attendees begin to arrive at the after party, including actress Niecy Nash.

7:45 p.m. Winners cross the black carpet to the afterparty, new trophies in tow. Once inside, they’ll get the trophy engraved.

8:00 p.m. The party is on in full force. Dishes and desserts are offered around the perimeter of the room, including specialty items from celebrity chefs Augusto Pasini, Michael Voltaggio, Brooke Williamson and Jet Tila.

8:30 p.m. Specialty cocktails, wine and non-alcoholic sips are dispersed throughout the room.

9:00 p.m. Cocktails and trophies alike adorn the tables while guests enjoy the music and magic of the night.

10:00 p.m. The Levy teams from LACC and Peacock Theater celebrate a job well done and another successful year of the Emmy Awards.

The team at LACC and Peacock Theater said, “We love this event every year, and it never disappoints! It's always a bit different, which keeps things exciting. After months of planning, cooking up new recipes, and getting everything set up, it turned out fantastic. We can't wait for next year!”
